SOUND CIRCLE EURYTHMY TRAINING
We are pleased to announce the creation of a full-time Eurythmy Training program in Boulder, Colorado, beginning August 2009. This four-year program, culminating in an internationally recognized diploma, will provide a full foundation in the fundamentals of eurythmy.
Rich Artistic Foundation
To enhance an artistic foundation, this rich curriculum will include supplementary courses in speech, anatomy and physiology, poetry, music theory, painting, sculpture and more. As part of comparative movement studies, students will also attend a variety of dance and movement performances and workshops to enable them to clearly perceive and understand eurythmy’s unique place in the contemporary artistic and therapeutic scene.
Career or Personal Growth
Designed for those interested in eurythmy as a career or those seeking to integrate eurythmy into their lives as a medium for personal growth and transformation, graduates will go on to become teachers in Waldorf Schools, performing artists, therapeutic eurythmists or to incorporate eurythmy into other professions.
Waldorf Eurythmy Preparedness and Anthroposophy
The program will also provide a solid base in Waldorf school pedagogy, incorporating comprehensive courses in Waldorf education and its roots in Rudolf Steiner’s Anthroposophy, essential for those embarking on a career as eurythmy teachers. Local and national Waldorf teachers with decades of experience will be responsible for these classes. While adherence to Steiner’s teachings is in no way a prerequisite for joining this course, an open-hearted interest in discovering more about them must be assumed. Some of these classes may not be required for those students with extensive prior knowledge of Anthroposophy and/or Waldorf training/experience.
Master Teachers and Supporting Guest Faculty
This training will be led by master teachers David-Michael Monasch and Glenda Monasch, both graduates of the Academy for Eurythmic Art at the Goetheanum in Switzerland, with supplementary courses taught by influential eurythmists, artists, Waldorf teachers and guest lecturers. In addition, this eurythmy training program will be overseen by regular guest teacher, Michael Leber, a renowned eurythmist, ensemble director, and longtime head of the training program at the Eurythmeum Stuttgart, Germany.
Accreditation and Future Work
As we proceed in creating this training, we are also exploring avenues toward having it be recognized by an institution of higher learning, through which those students who wish to do so could also work toward a Bachelor’s Degree. It is too early to say just what this might entail, and there are no guarantees that this will come to pass, but we feel it is important for some prospective students to know that we have already begun pursuing these questions. All students successfully completing the 4-year course will be given a certificate that is recognized by the world-wide Waldorf/Steiner School Movement and many other institutions. At any given moment, positions for eurythmists are available almost anywhere on earth!
What next?
Those interested in exploring whether this training might be their next life step are encouraged to contact us as soon as possible to arrange an interview. Wherever possible, we also strongly recommend potential students attend at least one weekend with us this year so we may meet one another in movement!
As this course continues to develop, we will post the latest news here on the website. In addition, if you would like to receive periodic updates by email, please email us at register.email@soundcircleeurythmy.org
