Eurythmy – Harmonious or beautiful movement (Greek)
Eurythmy asks for, and helps develop, a wakeful consciousness in those who practice it. It can be a meaningful aid to individual development, as well as enhancing one's social awareness and ability to work harmoniously with others. Sound Circle Eurythmy offers introductory and more advanced courses for adults seeking to enhance their lives through the practice of eurythmy. In addition, a four-year, full-time Training is now available for those seeking to make eurythmy their life’s work.
“In a real sense all life is interrelated. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality; tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.... I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the way the world is made.... this is the interrelated structure of reality.”
- M.L. King
“When the limbs execute irregular movements, the soul begins to mumble; when the limbs perform regular movements, it begins to whisper; when the limbs carry out the harmonious cosmic movements of the universe, it even begins to sing. Thus the outward dancing movement is changed into song and into music within.”
-Rudolf Steiner
“Rhythm is strength. And strength arises where time and life are formed rhythmically. Nature determines the rhythmic forming of time sequences. Nature takes the human being through the seasons. The great rhythms of nature in which the human being is placed are there already. As human beings, we can only win our own strength if, within the greater rhythms, we find our own.”
-M. Schmidt-Brabant
“Nothing ever dies. What we call death is only a transformation from one form of life to another. All the music that ever was still sounds; all the music that is to be still slumbers. Life and death are one, and, in the truest sense, the whole universe is a song.”
- Thomas Whitney Surette
