How special to move to beautiful, live music – the ultimate nourishment and "time out" from what might feel like an otherwise "usual" day. The poetry is inspiring, thought provoking, (and can provide) spiritual guidance. It is all heavenly.

WEEKEND WORKSHOPS

The Threefold Human Being in Movement

Each weekend will feature poetry and music expressive of one aspect of the tripartite nature of our being

November 14-16The Will: strong texts and stirring music will help us experience the active, dramatic element, which is particularly connected to the earth and the physical body, especially the limbs.

January 16-18Thinking: through more contemplative texts and music we can enter into the cognitive realm, related to the head and the heavens; classically seen as the link to the spirit.

March 13-15 Feeling: in lyrical compositions and poems we move into the soulful realm of the heart, and find a dynamic balance between heaven and earth, head and limb, thinking and doing.

April 17-19 Head, Heart & Hands: the synthesis of all three soul forces, in which we will review and unite them all.  The previous three weekends will be reviewed and expanded upon to conclude our year’s explorations.

All classes at the Kelly Barn; 1360 Sumac Ave; Boulder, CO 80304

ONGOING OPEN INTRODUCTORY CLASSES

These regularly scheduled classes are the perfect place for beginners to get acquainted with eurythmy. Basic concepts of eurythmy are introduced to new students, including expressive gestures for music and speech. Learning to move harmoniously with others in fluid, organic group choreography is part of every session.

Consistent participants are able to develop and deepen their eurythmic knowledge and skill within the flexibility of these fun, open classes.

All classes (except Adult Integrative Eurythmy from September to December) at the Kelly Barn; 1360 Sumac Ave; Boulder, CO 80304

Fees: $15 drop in; $65 for any 5 sessions prepaid; $120 for any 10 sessions prepaid (attend only one course, or mix-and-match from all three!)

Adult Integrative Eurythmy

These popular introductory sessions return on Friday mornings from 9-10.15. Through the course of the year, participants experience many different elements of tone and speech eurythmy, often tied to the seasons and the festival life.  Aspects of Waldorf education are frequently touched upon, making them a helpful experiential way for parents to deepen their appreciation of both eurythmy and the Waldorf approach, and of how intimately they are entwined.  The sessions provide a lively opportunity for moving in joy and harmony with others; as well as offering exercises which can then be taken up alone as part of one’s individual work.  They are sometimes challenging, and always inspiring and fun! While coming every week and ongoing work brings greater benefits, drop-in participation is always encouraged!

Classes September to December in the Eurythmy Room at Shining Mountain Waldorf School; January to June at the Kelly Barn.

Where and When: Friday mornings, beginning Sept 12 9:00-10:15

Men's Eurythmy with David-Michael Monasch

While similar in much of its content and intention to the Integrative Eurythmy classes, these Tuesday evening sessions from 7.30-9pm are directed at men who may not be able to attend on Friday mornings, and who enjoy sessions in which there is somewhat more focus on developing concentration, coordination, skill, and teamwork; many men have been surprised to find how challenging and satisfying doing eurythmy can be. Several have also spoken of how their new experiences have helped them engage with their sons about the subject in a whole new way.  No previous experience needed.

Where and When: Alternating Tuesday evenings, beginning Sept 16th, 7:30-9pm

Tone Eurythmy NEW THIS YEAR!

With regular piano accompaniment, these sessions focus on kaleidoscopic geometric forms, copper rod and ball exercises, unique ‘prelude’ (Auftakt) choreographies by Rudolf Steiner, gestures for musical tones and intervals, and more.  No prior eurythmic or musical experience required.

Where and When: Alternating Tuesday evenings, beginning Sept 23rd, 7:30-9pm

Eurythmy has a formative power that remolds my instrument, the upright human gestalt, to be receptive and permeable to the activity of the creative forces within me that speak, sing, and think.  The more I study eurythmy, the less I "know" on a cognitive level. The wisdom I have discovered through eurythmy is found where the body, soul and spirit become united, a source of "deep wisdom".

                 - K. Youngblood

Eurythmy has expanded my sense of community awareness energetically, while reinforcing my own personal space.  David-Michael is a mentor who teaches from a space of neutrality and unconditional love.
